is about a writer of detective stories who bargains for more than he
can handle as he researches the mysterious Dimitrios. He is pulled
farther and farther into a web of deceit. The book was made into a film
and the film into a radio play as presented on the Screen Guild Theatre in 1945.

ouch! that has to be the worst effort i've ever heard from well-known stars. i hope it's not the best treatment ambler ever got on radio!

To my knowledge, it is the only Ambler ever produced on radio - at least during the "golden age." But you are correct and as I mentioned in the podcast, it is pretty bad. I think I was trying to be nice!
